You probably know Cavalaire for its fine sandy beaches with crystal clear waters, its many water sports activities, its Provencal market and its facilities for children…
But do you know its wild green hills?
Cavalaire is famous for its sea as far as the eye can see, but it’s much more than that!
Walking is the best way to discover the picturesque landscapes of Cavalaire’s footpaths, the heady scents of the Mediterranean flora, and the fascinating fauna (cicadas, lizards, turtles, seabirds) of Cavalaire’s green hills.

The Fenouillet trail is signposted and can be walked on your own It’s a must-do walk between the sea and the Massif des Maures, offering typical landscapes and breathtaking views. The Fenouillet trail lies between Bonporteau beach and the hamlet of Le Dattier. You may be surprised to see a large white house at the top of the hill. This is the Domaine de Foncin, a large mansion now open to the public by appointment.
You are lucky enough to be in a wild environment that belongs to the Conservatoire du Littoral. This means that a few rules must be observed to ensure that this treasure remains intact despite the passage of hikers. The Fenouillet tour is described in detail on the map of the Golfe de St Tropez walks, which is available at the Tourist Office or can be downloaded.
⚠️Don’t forget to pack walking shoes, a hat and a bottle of water. The path is littered with roots and rocks, so don’t venture out in your flip-flops..
Before setting off on your adventure, be sure to read the fire risk map, which regulates the use of the Var’s forests.
It is available at the Tourist Office.
In the heart of the Domaine Foncin, a stone’s throw from the town centre, put on your hiking shoes…
and experience Mediterranean nature !
Cavalaire is located on the V65 cycle route that links Sanary to Nice, a distance of over 260 km. This proximity, combined with all the efforts made to offer the best possible welcome to cyclists, has earned Cavalaire its label
The V65 allows you to travel along the Var coastline or inland, following the route of the old Provence railway. This means the circuit is relatively flat.

For the less sporty, we recommend a stroll along the promenade de la mer in the bay of Cavalaire. You can walk all the way to Pardigon on a flat, well-maintained path, listening to the waves and admiring the sea all the way!
