The Conservatoire du Littoral

The Conservatoire du Littoral is a state
organization created in 1975. Its main mission is to preserve
the French coastline, its flora and fauna and to open the spaces to the public. It currently owns more than 213,000 hectares spread over 750 sites The management of the sites it has acquired is entrusted to official bodies (communes, departments, regions) or associations For example, the Rayol Mediterranean Garden has been entrusted to the ADORA association, while the 15-hectare Domaine Foncin is managed by the town of Cavalaire. For the record, the Domaine Foncin was the first donation made to the Conservatoire du Littoral.

At the entrance to the Conservatoire’s sites, signs indicate the restrictions in place to protect the fauna, flora and soil. Indeed, it is forbidden to remove elements or to leave the paths in order to limit soil erosion.
